Question regarding drum sounds etc.

what do u mpc 2000xl users do for ur drums,do u use these sound libaries you can buy, do u sample drums from origional records? also when ur making beats,do u have to stick to having a kick, clap,snare, or could you have a kick,hat ,hat kick,if you know wot i mean?

I like to sample from the original records if possible. I also have a large collection of breaks in wav and mp3 that I chop if I can't find the wax. I have used sample libraries before. Mostly for drum machine samples. No matter what the source, I like to layer and resample through effects, filters, and different samplers to make them more my own.
