Microkorg w/ 2kxl for effects

NOOB ALERT!!...I know Im going to be given a hard time about this....
Okay, so Ive read the microkorg manual already (see pg.21).....Im still slightly confused.... How do you get mpc audio into your microkorg to add effects???? I can see the audio signal on the line 2 led, but no sound playback.... I run the mpc and microkorg through a soundcraft compact 4 mixing board (mpc,chan.2 - rec out - line 2 aud in,microkorg...and yes I pressed the record button, so dont ask) Can someone help me out,please?

Audio out from the microkorg, recording into the mpc?? I wouldnt be affecting the samples, tho, only inputing into the mpc, right? I read somewhere else in the manual that you have to hook up both audio inputs, but if Im not mistaken, that was only to use a VOCODER program using an external audio source, not a SYNTH??

Im confused........

You do realize that the Korg is not a sampler it's just a sound module basically. You need to either play what your are going to put in the MPC by playing it and sampling it into the MPC or by midi the Korg to the MPC and take the notes or sounds you want from the Korg and assign them to the pads.

Read page 21, processing an external input audio signal.....

From my understanding of the manual, you can input sounds and manipulate then using the filter, amp, EG and LFO? Am I way off???

Im not trying to simply play the sounds from either device, thats where MIDI comes in........

I want to add effects to my samples/sounds without buying the EB16 or getting into VST's/Plugins etc.

Is this what the microkorg manual is saying, or am I on crack

I don't have a microkorg but I know it can process external audio signals. If you're trying to vocode an audio signal you have to speak into the mic to hear anything.

I know it can do what Im describing, it says so right in the manual.......I dont know why everyone is saying otherwise......Just download the manual and look at page 21............... You can assign external audio to a SYNTH program OR a VOCODER program.

Thanks beatfreq. I was trying to assign the external audio to a SYNTH program tho, not a VOCODER program.......but I think it will still give me the same end result. I just didnt want to have to vocalize into the mic everytime I wanted to affect the sound.

Nah, thats just with the vocoder. You should be able to do all the filter effects and what not by using the external audio as an oscillator. It's probably just some simple shizz you missing thats gonna really piss you off when you figure it out.

you probably have to have your MK on a certain channel or sound bank number. My K Station does this too and its pretty cool.

yeh u can route the mpc audio thru the microkorg, effects block. you will probably have to hold down a key to hear anything.

search youtube. there was a guy that did a tut on this. it is a pretty cool feature.
