Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By mech1 Sat Feb 07, 2004 3:45 pm
are there any other mac users here that have the mpc 2000xl? are there any compatibility issues that I should be aware of between the 2000xl and Macintosh? I'm getting a new Mac soon and was wondering if there were any conflicts between the 2000xl and the new Mac operating systems. I'm assuming I'll need a SCSI to USB adapter to transfer files from the mpc to my Mac? also, which studio software is the best to use in conjunction with the 2000xl? any info would be appreciated.

btw, I checked the faq and couldn't find anything specifically about mac compatibility. sorry if this is an old topic.

just get yourself one of them good ol internal zips for the 2kxl and a usb or fw one for the mac.......the mpc DOES NOT support any kind of scsi MPC to mac file transfer at all.....

I was wondering about the compatibility issue too, when I found this post in another thread here.

yes it will work I've got a similiar cable...scsi goes into mpc...usb goes into pc...and i just save to scsi 3 - my pc
it beats zips, floppies and therefore
yall should go get one

He was talking about this USB/SCSI adapter ...... http://www.national-tech.com/specs/28uc-66000.htm

Now, reading what Swiss wrote, I'm not sure anymore....

TZ,

I've been watching the SCSI/USB thread too, so will have to wait and see, but.............

As Swiss said, the interal MPC Zip & USB Mac Zip are a great help, and with this

will make ur life a million times easier - and its very cheap for how much time it saves!

On top of that, it depends what software u got free with ur Mac, but I got Soundstudio and Audacity which are both useful audio editors, and now Recycle 2.1 can run on OSX, I'm thinking I might get that too. That would be good for you if u want to cut up existing breaks etc.

Hope that gets u started

thanks. I probably should of been more clear in my first post. originally I was wondering if it was possible to hook the mpc 2000xl directly into your Mac, but then I forgot about the internal zip drive for the mpc. I've got an external USB zip for my current mac and wanted to know about its ability to read files via the zip disk from the mpc. I currently use the Sound Edit 16 editor and it allows me to convert files into AIFF, so I would imagine I could save files on the mpc as AIFF and open them in SE16.

but anyway, I'll check the link above. this mpc business gets a little confusing sometimes  .
