2000xl just insalled 32ram what now?

hey guys just insalled 2x 16mb sticks. but as im sampling i still only get like 18 sec and when i open that window it still says 2 megabites installed. also the load screen still says 1900 k free snd,,,, do i have to load a new os...? or is the ram not working, it would want to i paid $98 bucks for it...

na i didnt force it looked like there was only 1 way it could go, there was a checkout on 1 side and square on the other of the ram. should the mpc just work straight away and read the extra ram? ( oh yeah im from australia and it was the cheapst i could get well apart from, us ebay.) at least i can send it back i hope.

oh,send it back and get some RAM from german ebay,two of them for 10(!!!!)
euros....and they work fine.even with shipping you save a bargain....buy your girlfriend some flowers...

When I installed mine,it didnt show up .then I switched the ram chips and it worked fine.

the actual 32mb won't show up if it's there's an issue.

ie:

wrong ram
bad ram
not seated correctly
totally different ram sticks.mismatched specs of ram (not matched).


the 2mb ram is default on the motherboard, when the correct ram is installed the 2mb becomes inactive and your machine breathes from the new ram only...

yo still no luck with the ram, can any1 with a blue 2kxl let me no where u got ur ram from and ill purchase that bad boy straight away. ive gone through 2 sets now already. thanks

Installing Memory Expansion

The MPC2000XL’s internal memory can be expanded to 32Mbytes using SIMMs.

The
MPC2000XL comes with 2Meg of memory ‘hardwired’ and there are two slots in which you can
install SIMMs chips.

The SIMMs board is inserted at a slight angle and then pushed back where it
clips into place. Some SIMMs boards have the memory chips mounted on both sides sometimes.

However, the boards can only be inserted one way so you shouldn’t have any problems. Be
careful not to force them into place otherwise they may snap.

SIMMs operate at different speeds. SIMMs that operate at a speed of 70nS (nanoseconds) or faster are recommended. IE: 60ns is faster than 70ns.

SIMMs also come in various sizes. Please note the following memory configurations that are possible in the MPC2000XL.

* When 32M SIMMs are installed, the 2Meg on the MAIN board is ignored.
Note: Memory chips are sensitive to static electricity. Please observe the following safety precautions:

• Unplug the MPC2000XL before installing the board(s).
• The SIMMs may come with a special wrist strap to discharge static electricity.
We suggest you attach the strap to the MPC2000XL’s case. If a wrist strap or
any other such accessory is not supplied, try discharging any static by touching
an earthed metal object before handling the boards.
• Always handle the memory board by its edges - avoid touching the components
on the board.
• To minimise static electricity, avoid carpeted areas and low humidity areas.

why you paying $98 man? I got that on ebay for £4!
When you go to sample, highlight the sampling time left and use the wheel to go right. Does the maximum sampling time left increase?

Are you sure the RAM is locked into place on the motherboard?
Also. make sure you aren't wearing wool socks, a wool sweater and corduroy pants when inserting the RAM. Static electricity is a b*tch!
