sampling instruments

I dont have a triton and wont be having one any time soon so i thought about sampling my friends
if i sample a string would it be best to sample twice per octave or would i get away with sampling at key 60 and pressing 16 levels on the mp?

The more the better. Remember to tune a note the mpc slows down or speeds up the sample so the less you use the mpc to tune the better.

yea if you can take the time to sample all notes and create your own program youll be better off. its a butt load of sampling but the results will be alot better.

i would get a software auto sampler like sample robot or extreme sample converter.sample it & then create my own program with mpc editor or use it as a vsti.

why hassle with sampling so much for so little? Dig your hand deep in your pocket and go buy a soundfont collection ready made in .pgm format. Ebay is full of these compilations with less than 50 bucks per piece.
