New MPC2000xl owner - SCSI vs. IDE question

I am a new owner of a MPC2000XL. The machine I bought on ebay does not have an internal Hard Drive but it does have a connector on the motherboard for a internal SCSI and a connecter for an internal IDE.
I read in the manual that you can install an internal IDE or an internal SCSI. When I read the forum threads I notice that most discussion is about the SCSI and not the IDE.
I have about 6 old PC IDE drives lying around but no SCSI's and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was an issue using a IDE drive?

Some 2kxl users installed hard drives inside their machines and it worked properly.
You'll get way more info by searching the forum, lots of topics about that I assume.

the ide connector will not work with hard drives only card readers & such.for internal hd you have to use the internal scsi port.

true that.
ide only supports removable media. so scsi is the only way to do an internal hdd. unfortunately all it would have took was a f\w update to add ide hdd storage. but that never happend. if you need a drive i can point you in the right direction for about $20. just pm me

Thanks for all the advice. I decided to buy the card reader from vstservice.com and what I guess is that it will plug into the ide connector that I thought was going to be used for a hard drive.

This makes sense now. The ide is used for the card reader, the scsi for a hard drive, and the floppy gets tossed in the trash!
