after chopping sample, how does it get to pads

after chopping my sample into zones, i slice , and i read that it will create the program and those sounds will be relayed to my pads...but it doesnt seem that straightforward.
the only way i can get those sounds straight to pads is,

they are automatically individually given a new name (like if i have a sample called "trumpets", those 8 zones ive sliced are called "trumpets1, trumpets2" etc etc and i go into those sounds, save each one and then i can assign to pads...but that i can only do per sound, isnt there a way that those sounds ive chopped get sent str8 to seperate pads?

also in general, im not sure how to get my sounds to pads in general...when i have a sound is it just a case of saving the sound then assigning?

after you zone out the sample if you want to assign all the pads automatically just change it to yes when it says do you want to create a new program

getting samples to pads, in general.

shift>program>pick a bank, hit a pad, make sure the cursor is highlighting OFF... then just spin the wheel till you find what you're looking for...

when i do that, on any pad i press it just plays the whole sample, each pad plays the same, the whole sample. what am i doin wrong?
