yo i need some serious help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i ve had my mpc 2000xl for about 3 weeks, i like the way it feels as far as puting beats down and seqencing external gear. i bought a zip disc full of studio sampled sound, and wav files off e-bay. Some of the sound o.k. i guess. the 808s are just plain ol booms. I havent heard any nice tight thick sounding drums that i hear in alot of hiphop music. I tried to tweek the ones i have in params, but i make them sound worse. what i need to know from some of yall experts out there, where the heck can i get some tight drums sounds?the zip disc i got got like 2000 sounds and nothin jaw dropping. just basic stuff. I know that the mpc samples but i dont whats good to sample and how to loop it. please putt me on the right track!!!!! pun intended

Ths sounds you have can be layered 3-4 four times with themsleves or other instruments to create the thickenss you are looking for. Vary the volumes on each layered instrument, changes some filters maybe. Use a touch of resonance to make the sample a little more snappy. Stuff like that, get your creative juices going with the sounds you already have. That's how most people I know do it. Most drums don't just start of phat and thick. YOU make them that way..

Try this on for size, Chptr 7, Creating and Editing Programs, pg 117, "Program Sound Generation Mode".

No trouble at all. Mmpcvore said it nicely, the manual is your friend. There are so many things in there that people miss when they just skip through the pages. Take a close look at the index and you will 85% of the time find what you are looking for, go there and find how to do it.
