Problems with CD-ROMs on the 2000classic

i got a external scsi cd-reader/writer i already used with th 2kXL without problems, now on the 2k classic i have a really strange behaviour with the discs.

I burned a cd - in a friendly version for the mp, means no folders, all .snd (i also tried wav,too) files , short names and in the correct bit/khz , but the mpc keeps on showing me, disc format "?????" , i tried some old emu and akai sampler cds is an they work without problems.

Does somebody know what i did wrong or what is going on
I already tried all kind of disc formats, mac/pc, old iso standart,etc. , but now i got a bunch of cds for my trash can... somebody got any suggestions?!

What about burning speed? Although I don't use cd-rom scsi drive, something tells me that it would have to be recorded on a very slow speed for the mpc to recognize a cd-r.

yes, i also tried this, my cd writer can burn at a minimum of 8x up tp 52x.
the scsi reader can read up to 16x.

but even at the slowest speed reading fails ...
