Low Sample Volume

When I try to sample my records into my mpc, the volume of the sample is always low. This happens every time. I just got myself a cheap mixer thinking that I could bump up the volume but it didnt do much without distorting the sample. Its not something stupid like, I didnt turn the rec volume up. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

what kind of mixer, turntable, and needle are you using??

if you have the turntable connected to the phono-in of the mixer and grounded correctly, a good signal should be outputted through the mixer. Turn the record gain on the mpc to 12 o'clock and the gain on the master and line-gain on your mixer both to 12 o'clock, you should have a decent signal without distortion.

I use the DJ Pre2 in between my Technics turntable and Yamaha MG10/2 and my samples come out hot ass hell. I have to turn them down sometimes. I can't really diagnose your problem since I'm not in your lab. Good luck.

I have a really shitty turntable (numark) with a stanton mixer. I have a feeling its the mpc or the turntable?

sometimes it's the old theme "analogue vs. digital" . My experience is, that you can never compare the original (analogue) signal directly to the sampled (digital) signal. If you do that, you might think you're losing the punch and pressure. Especially with kickdrums and snares. Always try to sample with the smallest headroom to avoid noise. the mpc2000xl has no normalize funktion so you have to explore by yourself, wich recordlevel is suitable. Bring up your Turntablevolume to the best you can get (a little lower before distortion) and than tune your record input of the mpc to the correct level. That might be helb you.

I am having this problem also. I have my MPC 2000xl with the Stereo Left and Right as well as the Record In left and right inputs going into my old Optimus STA - 2170 Receiver. Did you ever figure it out?

Damn did realize that you had this problem 4 years ago wow. sry but if you did fix it and you somehow see this let me know what you did.

i have a numark also if its a cheaper version make sure the needle is adjust the right way or you may need a new cartridge or need i had this issue with distortion and low volume
