HD or ZIP , which is better ?

I'm getting conflicting views on this.
I am in decora22's boat as well, used MPC2000...full RAM,internal floppy only.

I see many recommend ZIP's but also hear get an external HD or External CD ROM for saving ?

Wouldnt the HD be better than ZIP ?

All I need is the correct SCSI connection for either of these, but am
curious which is best.

Yep, I have the same, 2kxl, internal zip250, SCSI hd and SCSI cd-rom.

cd-rom for loading only.

I think I get it .... now I have an MPC 2000 w/ full RAM, and floppy drive.
I NEED ....
1)external CD ROM - just for loading ( sounds and start up pg )
2)external ZIP drive for saving (songs, sounds )
and both of those require the right SCSI cable ....
Am I gettin it all ?

external CD-rom drive is only to load sounds.....with the ZIP drive ,you can save AND load sounds ,programs,sequences etc...etc...and you can put the OS on the ZIP disk so you don't need to use the floppy anymore(BTW:i use the MPC 2000 with external ZIP and CD-rom drives...)

I really just need an external ZIP based on what mpcvore just said ...
I can load/save all from one device ?
cool - if there is a reason why i should have cd rom "just" for loading
the OS then I need to know why, otherwise it seems pointless to have both.

no no maybe i don't explain very well(cos' i'm french...):the scsi CD-rom drive is only to load sounds from CD rom...ok?you cannot load the Os from this device.you have to do that from the ZIP....So ,to begin it seems better for you to have a zip drive....then,when you will work easy with your MPc,you can"hunt" for a Cd-rom drive...Ok?

SO i will search for a ZIP with a a 25 pin SCSI
