converting midi file to wav/mp3?

first off, sorry if this thread is done a lot or a real easy thing to do.
so, i made my song, saved it to my floppy disk (lol yes a floppy, zip drive is coming soon though), put the song on my computer, and it was...well a shitty sounding midi file. i used a program on my computer to convert it to mp3 and it sounded the same. did i not use the right program? will it be different when i get my zip drive since it can save bigger files? do i need to change some things on my mpc?

MPC is a midi based production unit, but to play those midi sequences the way they sound in the machine, you need to have the samples you used for the actual song. There is no way of transporting a finished song out from the mpc (that I know of), except recording the audio outputs into your pc/hardware recorder inputs.
Of course you can export midi files like you did, and then open them in Ableton Live for example and load samples into Ableton to the same tracks you used in the mpc, but what's the point of having an mpc in the first place if you are about to transport everything to the pc later? : ) Record outputs, that's how we all do it here...I think.
