Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Ok so I just order one from VST.

Do you guys know what types of mem cards it uses. I don't know that much about em.

Also I read here in the forums that a 2000xl will only read partitions of up to 1GB. If thats true than can I partitions the cards? Or will I have to keep it to mem cards under 1GB?

Up to this point I've been using an external SCSI zip drive, but I was hoping to save everything; kits, sounds, sequences, etc on the cards. Is that a good idea?

Last question, How do I go about partitioning the mem card (if possible)

Thanks for the help
:D

If you order it from vst it will come with two 1gb cards. I actually fitted mine last night. I didnt think it would work as I haven't updated the os on my mpc, but I it did an everything was cool. They are pretty much ready to go out the box from vst, but you can partion them differently if you wanted to.
As far as saving everything on the cards im not an expert but from what I understand the cards you will use on the reader cf cards, sd cards dont always work, are more reliable than zips. If you want to save everything on the cf cards you can create folders to put different samples in.

I have not tried on mine yet but you may need to opdate the os in the mpc in order to take samples from your pc an put them on the cf cards so the mpc can use them- having said this though that was for xp, but im using vista on my laptop and am not sure if it will work.

There is a really useful video on youtube if you are fitting it yourself any problems or more questions just ask
