system disk read error.

this one should be quick...
just picked up a 2000 on ebay and it doesnt read the floppy with the system i downloaded from akaipro.com. the drive hums enough to let me know that its talkin to the other hardware then the screen reads a "disk error" so the way i figure it it could be:

-dirty drive ( someone suggested cleaning disks in another post )
-busted drive
-bad driver or other hardware
-bad disk ( unlikely, cause i tried it with three different floppys )
-some formatting protocol i dont know about. ( i formatted the disk on a PC, then loaded the system onto it )

any suggestions?

make sure its the o.s. disk for the 2000 and not the xl. if you have the xl then you may need to get a new floppy drive. the only o.s. I saw on the akai site was 1.14 for the xl. any ide floppy drive should work I had the same problem on my 2000.
