Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By moe247365 Wed Mar 05, 2008 6:16 pm
I just got the MPC 2000XL and i'm still trying to figure it out.

1. Can Anyone tell me how you lock your sample or loop with the master tempo on the MPC?? "I believe it's called patched phrase" For Example... when i speed the tempo up my sample doesn't speed up with it. How do i lock the tempo so that it speeds up with the mater tempo of the sequence??

2. Is it possible to "Time Stretch" on the MPC 2000XL? I've seen it done on the 2500 so I'm wondering if it's possible on the 2000. :?:

You will not find patch-phrasing in a 2kxl manual.

Cause the machine can't do it.

Check out this link of Pete Rock... This is exactly what i'm trying to do. How do i keep the sample locked to the tempo? (even if i speed it up or slow it down the sample stays on beat)

That's not time stretching at all.

There is no lock on the tempo.

That has to do with how he dices up the sample in the ZONE page and triggers the pads in perfect time. I doubt he even timestretched anything, probably just uses the tune function. Just keep playing with it, after a while it will just come to you. There are other options for you too, but youll just have to get real "friendly" with the manual.
