How do I prevent the pads from overlapping on one another.

If you mean the same pad not over-lapping each time you press it, you need to change it to Mono.

If you mean several different pads not over-lapping each other, you need to change it to Note Off, and only keep your finger on the pad for as long as you want it to play.

Oh, it might be a good idea to read the manual too.

that note off sht is too hard to play lol i only use that for basslines. go to program, then params and change each pad to mono then click open window and you can set that pad to mute off other pads.
