Constant loading sound!

My friend's 2000XL makes a constant loading noise from the second it's turned on. He's still able to use the machine as usual but it just makes that horrible grinding 'loading' sound as long as it's switched on!

We're both stumpted as to what it could be, so if anyone has any ideas please let me know and i'll pass on the answer!

Is it coming from the drive?

Replace the drive maybe, I know you've thought of that already haven't you?

2kxl is just a regular ole floppy from any computer store.

It's too easy. Just open it up and change out the drive, make sure any/all jumpers in the
back are the same configuration. It's not hard, it's only hard as you make it.

Internal zip, same thing, 250mb iomega atapi if you can still find them somewhere, anywhere.
