I have an effects board in my MPC 2000XL and I hardly use it. The effects are cool but not that great. I guess maybe for live use but for recording I use the 8 outs and add effects later in logic..

i just bought one off ebay It should arrive tommorrow, I am quite excited, just got all the gear to install an internal zip as well. I've had my mpc for years but just started to really understand how amazing it is recently.

Any top tips, tricks for the effects board that make it different from adding effects later?

Conrats on the effects board. I was excited when I got mine. Sorry, I don't have any tips but you should get good use out of it in live situations. Just one thing, the effects won't work thru the 8 outs if you have em. Effects only work in stereo main outs.

they DO work through the eight outs, this was just covered in a thread actually not to long ago... :wink:

In yur Efx theres a MIX tab, you know along side all your fx like reverb, echo ect...open window on MIX and curse down to output and use the jog wheel to put the efx onto the outs...thats it, you should have the efx going through.

I would recomend an fx rack over and the mpc fx upgrade.

Get a good mixer with multiple auxillary sends, and rout those channels through your fx racks. You will have way more control.

yup i agree...i have a sprit fx-8 with a vf-1 and lxp-5.....so many sonic possibilities!

I would not. Try buying 4 outboard effects processors for $300. I do not think you can even get bad ones for that price.

DONT EVEN SWEAT THAT EFFECTS BOARD, I HAVE ONE THE SHIT AINT EVEN ALL THAT YO BETTER OFF USING EFFECTS ON A GOOD SEQUENCER LIKE SONAR OR CUBASIS IF YOU USE A PC .

you have to use a fair bit of dist/gain befopre alot of the fx's become noticeable on the sounds. akai could have done a bit better. but then again it aint the latest greatest technology. so i guess we can make do. rersampling thru the fx would have been invaluable. but hey. i got a pc i can still do it.
