No, your floppy cable will not work. The nice thing about the MPC2000XL is that it has internal connectors for both IDE and SCSI, right next to the floppy connector. This makes it quite easy to install an internal drive (zip or card reader).
If you get an ATAPI(IDE) zip drive, then you'll need a standard IDE cable, just like what you use for most IDE hard drives. If you get a SCSI zip drive, then you'll need a 50-pin SCSI ribbon cable. You can find either on eBay for next to nothing.
No drivers are needed (you cannot install a driver on a sampler anyhow!) - your MPC will recognize the drive as soon as it is connected and you boot up. Installation is very easy but if you have any questions, contact us directly by email or phone and we'll be glad to help.
