Midi out is locking up my XP-30. HELP!!!!!

For some reason the MIDI out of my XL is locking up my XP30. Every time I play a sequence a note sticks from the start and holds and the keyboard locks up completely. To see if the XL was the problem I disconnected the MIDI in cable on the XP30 and the note stopped and the keyboard was fine.

I even switched to MIDI out B on the XL and that didn't work. WTF?

Is there away to do a "factory restore" on the XL, or what should I do to resolve the problem?
