Yes,

I recently bought myself an MPC, after making beats on Fruity and Acid on the PC for ages....and basically I can make beats on both of them now and I need to try and integrate the two so that I can make beats on the MPC and sequence on the pc, whilst maybe adding a break on the PC......can anyone suggest the best way of being able to do this? I havent yet used MIDI to hook up the computer up to the MPC, so I dont know what to expect when I do....

Any guidence would be much appreciated,

bless,

hey bro,

it's really easy. all you have to do is sync the mpc to your software (fruityloops or acid) either as the master or slave.

what that means is that your mpc will control the play/stop functions of your software (master) or have your software control those functions on your mpc (slave). just connect the computer to the mpc using the midi in and out.

the best sync to use in my experiance is MIDI Clock. to set the mpc up to recieve or send MIDI Clock go to the sync page (shift + 9). what i always use is MIDI Clock and turn on the MMC (machine message control - think that's what it stands for).

do the same for your software in the properties setup and you are ready to rock (with a little trial and error of course. try different settings and see what works best). make sure that your software's bpm is the same as the mpc's otherwise the mpc will play at whatever bpm the computer is playing at.

also, you can use the pads on the mpc to trigger samples in fruity you just need to select the record note data from the midi in (never use FL but i think it's right beside where you can select the keyboard to transmit note triggers). also, in the properties page, make sure you are selecting the correct midi input that the mpc is outputing to.

good luck,

1-0ne

MIDI In - recieves data
MIDI Out - sends data
MIDI Thru - outputs only what the input is recieving from another device.
