Upgrades

I was just wondering, im new again to the MPC world just got my first one yesterday. But the 8mb flash rom board upgrade i saw in the manual first of where can i get it second does that expand my 32mb to 40mb? or is it something else and can someone fill me in again im new! and what other upgrades should i look into and why? like the 8 outs still dont register in my brain... the EB16 sounds good though..i wanna upgrade from the floppy to a Card reader writer.. i just updated to the newer OS 1.14

its a non volital memory system. it stores your current projects and programs in memory. so they are availible at startup without load time. also good if your in the middle of a hot beat and the mpc freezes or the power goes out.

The card reader is a MUST! Probably before you think about anything else for your MPC. It increases workflow for loading and saving.

Next... IMO...I'd go for the EB-16 effects card. I can always use some different effects because I'm spoiled by my ASR's effects.
For the 8-outs... it's up to you. I bought the 8-outs card for dirt cheap but honestly I never use it.

Thanks Dude. Yeah i think next will be the Card reader/writer, then later eb16.. I just upgraded the memory yesterday.. YAY!!!

I have the card reader on order and I can't wait to get it!!

Just one question for those that know...

Is it possible to load sounds from my zip drive and then save onto the CF card? If not would I need a usb zip drive and a translator piece of software to back up my old projects?

Sorry for the basic question but i've been away from my MP for 4 years and only just discovered the whole card reader option. I hope it does what I think it will...

I can say for sure cause I dont have either" card reader or zip ", But I would think it would work... I mean there both data thats stored into one location and from that location transfered to a new location..So I'd say yes...

I've got every single upgrade option for the XL. I'd say that you should go with this order:

32mb RAM->MCD upgrade kit->EB-16 FX->8 outs->8MB Flash board->MFC filter unit

MFC Filter? Huh I dont think I've heard about that one... whats that about?

External rack-mountable analog filter unit for extra Low pass/Hi pass/Notch filters. It can be used with everything cause you only hook up normal RCA/Jack audio cables to it.

MFC-42

You can mount the MFC directly onto the MP too which is rather cool, although the sound quality aint that hot in my opinion. It's a whole world better than the internal filter though, so well worth considering.
