time stretch?bpm match? Please help if you can

once again i wish i had the manual but my computer can barely surf the net. So i would like to know about any resolutions for this issue:

I will sample a sound or loop and i want to change the tone of the sample without actually speeding up the sample. Please help if you have any knowledge on this matter. my kid brother doesnt thi nk its possible but i showed em the specs and a few threads that said you can. i have no clue. if i dont figure this out in the next 3yrs i might move to tombstone ,az and become a fake doc holiday who walks around the town playin card games with tourists....

You can timestretch but it's really slow & will more than likely just freeze up on you if it's not like a 1 bar loop.

what would you advise in this situation? just do a 1 bar time stretch instead of a 4 bar

that dont really matter its not ganna freeze on you with a 4 bar loop but it would be much better to chop it into 1 bar loops if it is 4 bars. This wat you wanna do..

make sure your sample is a perfect loop. Loop it up in the loop screen and make sure its perfect or pretty much on.

Go to params in the trim screen and see what your original bpm readout is once you put in how many beats it is.

Now go to tune and pitch the sample up to where you want it.

Now hit edit > time stretch > bpm match

It should give you a readout of the new bpm, then in the second column put the original bpm in there and hit 'do it'.

There you go, the new timestretched sound will become a new file.

The more you stretch it tho the less likely a chance it has of sounding normal. large stretches get to become robotic sounding.

yo no disrespect but what is the point of percent stretching? Do you just guestimate what you want to stretch it to? I never saw the point of this when there was bpm match.

once again this site and its knowledgeable mpc users have saved me from completely destroyin and throwin my kid brotha off a speedin boat at the elephant butte lake in new mexico! hes not a very good swimmer so i think he appreciates you guys helpin me out. He thinks his fruity loopz and his asr 10 would dismember an mpc2000xl...HAHAHA well well have we got news for him ..ehh guys>
