Mosaic Spyrus for MPC 2000 Classic

Can anyone confirm these SCSI External Drives work with the MPC Classic?
Just got a cheap one from ebay and can't get it reading files
The drive lights up etc when I select SCSI-0, but it won't read the files I put on the CF Card

Any thoughts would be great, seems like the same ones SCSIFORSAMPLERS Sells, except there is no text on their units

Those drives are not the same as what we sell, although they do look similar.

You have two problems here. First, the Spyrus drives don't work with many of the MPC2000 Classic samplers because so many 2000s have blown SCSI fuses. The Syrus RD300 drives (like the one you are asking about) do not provide SCSI termination power, so if your MPC has a blown fuse, the drive will not work. You would either have to get your MPC fuse fixed or chain another drive in that does provide the termination power.

Now on to the second (and worse) problem: if the drive has the Mosaic brand name on it, it is a read only drive. It will not write to CF cards. That is the D3 model and only the D1 (like what we sell) and the D2 models will write CF cards.

Generally, you want to stay away from anything with the Mosaic brand name.

Would you happen to know what samplers this drive is compatible with? plan to sell it with all this stuff I bought for it which cost a fair price all in, might as well put the money towards a hard drive or something.

I'm sorry but I don't know which (if any) samplers those units would work with even as a read only drive.

Remember that if you decide to get a hard drive, the MPC2000 will only be able to access 1GB of any drive, so don't waste your money on a huge one. I love those guys on fleaBay selling 50GB and 73GB hard drives for the MPC2000, MPC60, MPC3000 and MPC2000XL!
