well shoot, i have my mpc, and my laptop, and i have no way to hear both at the same time..... the only way is thru my headphone jack switchin thru ports....

probably do better with a sound card/interface that has multiple ins/outs.

at my studio, we got a focusrite saffire, so if i get another one of them for my home studio i should be good? i also plan on getting a turtable too.....

if you add a turntable, you'll need a preamp. a dj mixer has a preamp, or use a studio mixer that takes an phono input.

you'll still need a soundcard to record your beats into the computer.
