Help using mpc2kxl wth FL Studio

i got have it hooked up correctly..mpc into the audio input of my m-audio audiophile card..i can hear my mpc beats playing in FL studio, but when I try to record, im getting silence on the playback..i want to rcord my mpc beats into FL, add some sounds fro Fl's library and export it to burn to CD..im very new to this(beat making, recording) so any help will be greatly apprceciated..btw im trying to get them synced to where i press record on mpc and Fl starts recording too and vice versa..

dump that fl crap, roll with the mpc.

sample the FL sounds into the mpc if you must keep the FL...but ill tell ya, itll still sound cheesey....so just sample records, or buy some good sample cds with instruments on them.

when i first started with the mpc, i thought that sampling was lame, and wasnt as cool as messing with a keyboard or FL, but thats because i didnt understand the sampler. ONce you understand it, and learn it, youll think like we do.

BTW fruity loops is a sample playback software, just like the mpc...the sounds you play on fruity are samples....so just export each sound as a wav format, and load them in the mpc, and you can play with them in the mpc.

Ok put it like this, I need a some kind of program where I can use to record audio from the mpc into the computer to burn to cd..also as far as sounds go, i love sampling wit the mp, but my beats just need some variety and i cant always sample the types of sounds i want, or i just want to add some instruments over my mpc tracks..what should i use?

yo for real if u bring your own samples into loops that shit can make some heat. I use all my scraps from the mpc in it and i make heaters with it. The pressets are all kinds of gay though. I have to use my own sounds.

are you using mpc4ooo. then i have no clue.

For mpc2000xl, ive gone (keep in mind this was a while ago) into the fruityloops folder, then to samples, found the sample, then just draged to the floppy disk, to put into mpc.

not all files are .wav files, so might need a wave editor like soundforge, to convert them to wav. Mpc only read wav, or .snd.......or you can sample them in.

Or make a loop of drums, export as wav, then chop it up, then put in mpc. or a combo of all that.

maybe make melodies with fruity, then sample the melody, and loop it in the mpc.

Im using the mpc 4000....! I try to drag a sample to akasys and it won't load...I have the fruityloops producer edition, on the left hand side of the screen in fruity I click on hiphop packs and it opens up all of the drum kicks and snares,....This is where im trying to drag a sample from!.....Am i draggin from the wrong place?.........This is what I have been trying to do for the longest...is to make a melody from fruity and import it into the 4000......I bought this version of fruity off line and it didn't come with detail instructions...Hell I don't even know if you can record into fruity, meaning....Can i record vocals into fruity?.......Can I record my tracks from the mpc into fruity? Man as you can see fruity got me all **** up!....Also with 4000 im using the tascam US122 for connection to my computer!....

I use FL as a rough sketch of what I want the beat to sound like. since FL is so much faster/easier to use, you can get your ideas down quickly before you forget the funk.

Once you have a basic framework of how its supposed to sound done in FL.....simply go into whatever file folder you have the samples saved on, and either save them to floppy or CDROM, and load those samples into the MPC.

then resequence and "Reconstruct" the beat you made in FL on the MPC.

works really well, for me at least.

you can also construct your loops in Fruity, arrange the hits, samples, etc. into individual loops, and then save those loops as a wave file and import them into the mpc to play the loops. I think thats gay though, personally.

well, I think i might know what the problem is....first off, whatever you are importing into the mpc, needs to be WAV format. Yes, it can be akai format, and .snd format, however...if its coming from fruity, im pretty sure the only format that FL can produce that will work is WAV. Right click on the file you want to drag and choose "properties" to see the format.


Also, i definately understand why you want to use FL. BUt with an MPC4000, you definately should not need it. And with all the import/export, and incorporating FL might make things complicated at first. First thing i would do is learn the MPC solo, then start incorporating both together. BTW im not trying to tell you what to do, but its just a suggestion. ALSO if i where using Both FL and MPC4000, i would sample everything from fruity, into the mpc4000. THIS WOULD be the easiest way to use both "at first" once you get figuring out what actually needs to be done, then you can start exporting files. Connect the outs of your computer to the ins on the mpc, then sample what you make in FL.

If your midi preferences in Fruity Studio are set correctly then if you hit
your ketboard it will trigger each individual sound in your Fruity sequencer
you can record into the MPC this way from Fruity Studio.

Or you can export each individual sound
and samp them into the MPC then record a sequence either way or like
