Extremely rare synthesiser from the late 1970's, but is it worth that much money?

Currently at £10 000 ($14,390/ Euro 12,066) with a few hours bidding left.

Honestly, I think it's worth what people are willing to pay for it. The problem with these kind of items is that you not only have people who wanna use it. You'll also have loads of people who maybe collect vintage gear or studio owners that want a genuine synth for their gear portfolio. So the number of bidders increases and the price, too!

There are still VST versions for those of us without the cash!

It is interesting how the price of gear fluctuates. I remember buying an SP1200 for 300 sterling in 2005. Needed a bit of fixing up, maybe spent 100 sterling max on service. Sold it 2 years later for 850. Now they're going for 1500....

MPC3000, bought for 700 sterling in 2005. Bought the vga card for 100. I doubt I'd be able to sell that for 800 today. Thankfully, I have no intention to sell, but serves as an example of how shit can change both ways.

I love the CS-80 soo much, made very famous by Vangelis but it is soooo over priced considering a few years ago you could buy one for 1k....CS-70's and the one bellow that are also very good imo
A **** to keep in shape too I hear the CS-80 so it's not just the buying cost but the running cost will be big too..,bit like a old classic car I guess only this thing still outperforms most modern analogues imo

The guy in one of the videos posted says, if you can't get your hands on the original unit the Arturia software sounds really almost the same! So it's like 229,-€ compared to WTF!!! Okay, the experience is a different one, but if you're just looking for the sounds!?

I heard that the Arturia version sounds real crappy compared to the real thing from a heluva lot of people but if anything is that the CS is a performance instrument...with emphasis on instrument, it's got a wonderful uber expensive velocity and after touch sensitive keyboard (Think the keys are wood), a ribbon controller and a mad load of sliders and buttons urging to be tweaked as you are playing it...well I guess thats the experience part but hey lol

If I had one I would definitely learn how to tune it as that seems to be the main problem with them.

As outrageous as the CS-80 is price wise now days...I can't see it beating this lol

Some analogue keyboards have really shot up recently.

I saw someone trying to sell a Jupiter 8 for £8000 a few months ago LOL.

They've been about £1500-£2000 for the past 5 years.

It would have to come with a hand written note from Jacko himself authenticating the machine for it to be worth anything like that amount.
