Sync a Fantom X6 to slave to an MPC 2500 as the master

This question has probably been asked too much already.

But I recently purchased an Akai MPC 2500. I've owned a Fantom X6 for about 3 years now.
Naturally I want to used my internal sound module to boost my MP's library.

Although, I am having trouble slaving my Fantom to my MPC.
To my understanding I should midi out my MPC to midi in on my Fantom X6.
I have tried both the manuals' guidelined procedures and still can't get them to work together.
Settings for my MPC are as followed

Input thru is on, Analog, midi clock and mmc are on, output omni A.
MSB? LSB? everything else is either set to yes or on.
Midi is selected, and not muted, program No.1



Settings for my Fantom X6 are as followed

Local sound : Off
Midi: ON

Not sure whether to set MMC or MTC:on or off?
When I attempt the sink I hear no sound being generated.
I have no idea what the device ID should be set too.
I am always in my sequence window when I try to play anything.
I'm pretty sure I'm missing something simple.
If anyone has any idea of what I am doing wrong or what else I can try. Please, let me know.
Any help would be be appreciated .


P.S. I can slave my MPC to my Fantom X if I midi out my fantom and midi in to my MPC.
So I know my midi cables work.

I can't help you, you have BOTH manuals in front of you?

Setting up the MASTER SYNC DEVICE (the MPC in your case) is pretty simple, its pretty much the same on all MPC's.

So what you need to establish now is this:

A) Do you really want to SYNCHRONISE the two sequencers together so that you can control both from the MPC transport?

In this scenario both internal sequencers can be used for MIDI programming and locked together using Midi Clock or Midi Timecode.

Or...

B) Do you just want to use the Fantom X6 as a MULTI-TIMBRAL SOUND MODULE, enabling 16 midi channels to be programmed from the MPC sequencer? In this scenario all MIDI programming is entered into the MPC sequencer, Fantom is simply used for sounds. Synchronisation is not required using this method, the Fantom acts as a sound module without a sequencer just like a JV1080 would.

I think it is important to know this as many people get sucked into thinking SYNCHRONISATION is always required when using an MPC with their chosen keyboard workstation acting as a multi-timbral sound module. In most cases, synchronisation is not required although it can be helpful when it comes to tracking out in multiple passes.
