MPC with MAC no USB or firewire

I just got a Mac G3 powerbook and I wanted to start using music software possibly reason. The problem is it has no USB and No firewire. Is it possible to use midi and make music without them

No usb? I didn't even know they made them without.

Although you could probably run Reason, you will be limited to the g3's internal soundcard. So don't expect great audio quality, internal cards tend to be noisy.

You'll need a serial port based Midi interface. Check Mark of the Unicorn for interface. I have an old one that is still decent. You might find one online at eBay or even here. They should be cheap. Then you're in business.

As for the USB and Firewire situation, you can use SCSI external Zip drives or Hard drives. If so, then you can use, MPCProgramMaker. That will make your MPC sound library use happier. For info on the scsi drives and so on, check out Mac Addict. There are lots of dealers who still sell these things around.

I have a serial port interface for midi that I used to use for my old powermac. I'm not sure of the model name, but it has 2 midi ins and outs. It's in perfect condition with the box, manual, etc. I haven't used it in years. You can have it for the price of shipping.
