what are some of your favourite virtual synths that you use?

& what kind of noises do you use them for the most in your tracks and mixes?

just curious to know what you guys use to make your sounds?

Kontakt is my main sound module. Mostly use it for bread and butter sounds. Also use Korg Legacy analog and digital, Rob Papen Predator and Alphakanal Automat for VA synth sounds. NI Battery for acoustic drumkits, and Guru for the times when I don't wanna fire up my MPC.

pentagon 1 sometimes cause it is loud as shit, goes nice if you got good filter pluggins

fm7/fm8 sometimes, usually for atmospheric build up type sounds

the prophet one by NI rarely but sometimes, once in a while I mess with it and make some cheesy melody

absynth and I would like to check out the new one too but haven't yet (is it better then the one before it?) I find it a bit... metallic or hissy? I dont know how to explain it but once in a while you can squeeze an awesome sound from it depending on the track.

just the other day I checked out poizone in fl studio because for some reason I never bothered to really have a listen to any of those presets. I wound up using two different presets that I tweaked and obviously added effects. One sub bass kind of sound and this other waspy mid-low synth kind of sound. It isn't bad at all to be honest... I always had it in my mind that it was total crap until the other day and I have no idea why.

toxic 3 in fl studio 9... I used this to waste 15 minutes of my life... as powerful as the synth is I disliked every preset I sat through and wound up leaving to make a pot of coffee followed by arguing with fobe about ... I dont even know.

kontakt 3, how is the new one? aren't they at 4 now? well I like this, the pianos are nice once in a while depending on genre of music you are doing... but for me I mostly use the upright bass, and I dont even remember the other patches it comes with that I use now and then.

massive, I liked this one but for some reason it started acting up and I had to uninstall it to salvage projects because I was having trouble launching saved projects that contained stuff from it. too bad because it was quite a nice one.

fl fruity slicer, I like it and I'm sure you guys do too

wave traveller... I use this the most. One trick I have which is kind of odd for this pluggin if I use it to fix those 808 type bass drum sounds that have that click at the front by lowering the attack on it, also sometimes the sample has some sustain but gets cut short so it helps trim that off nice when you are doing something quick quick.

waves mercury true verb reverb effect is nice, it has a different sound from my other reverbs so... it has its place.

anybody here try unknown 64? someone was telling me about it... is it a commodor sid sample player or something?

anybody try out the virtual version of a hardware synth they have? like the fm7/dx7 or prophet... etc.. ? it would be neat to hear a few comments on that because it seems people like NI put a lot of effort into making them close. anyone do a side by side?

Yeah I had both FM-7 and a DX-7 and DX-100 oh and I have a TX-81Z lol
Also had the Bass Station vst and had two real B-Station keyboards
Had the Legacy Wavestation and also a real Wavestation that I still have
Friend of mine also had a real mini moog and also the VST plu-in version which we used instead of the real thing because the MINI needed servicing; The second OSC or even all of then stayed in tune for about a minute lol but imo the real thing sounded nicer but the VST sounded pretty much the same..just a bit to clean

The real DX-7 and 100 imo sounded miles better than shitty FM7, more grit and the DX-100 is a lot easier to program
Can't remember what the B-Station plus sounded like but from what I remember there wasn't a lot of difference
And even though people seem to prefer the sound of the real Wavestation I didn't seem to re-call too much if any difference between the two but that was quite a while back

Oh also owned pretty much all Novation hardware and software

The V-Station although extremely close to the A and K Stations to me sounded even thinner than the hardware but at the time I was only using a M-Audio Audiophile PCI card which sound poo any way
