I upgraded the HDD in my MB a while ago to a 500gb model.
Using dd it only took a few hours without even needing to reinstall anything.
Just one thing to take into mind:
The physical size of the drive matters, anything up to 500gb fits with ease.
When looking at drives of 640gb or even 1tb you have to be careful, because most of these drives have an extra platter which makes it just a bit thicker than others, sometimes this results in the drive not fitting into the MB...
