Hey Man. The Digi001 does not work with laptops. It needs a PCI slot. You can use the Digi002. I have an 001 and it's beautiful. I've also used the Mbox on some community based arts projects. It's a damn good option. I used my location audio recorded on the Mbox back at my desktop based home studio where I mixed and edited it.
Either way, you're getting powerful software and damn good audio quality.
