Primarily the Vintage Drums refill, when I layer them up and run them out of the mbox, thru a pre and back in they sound pretty aggressive. Some tweaking is always needed so it depends on the beat tho. I can't tell you how many times ive used the basic redrum kits layered on breaks in the 1k and got DOPE results man

Yeh, I've done similar with those same basic redrum kits - rewired over to Cubase for some extra good processing with my tube saturation plugs/other FX - works a treat, I can tell you. Sometimes, I do think some are guilty of overlooking what they have before them or just plain haven't thought about how to maximise the potential of those that are to hand maybe ? I often use a fair few stock sounds from Reason as they sit in a track very well, although I do find, as said above, that I need to tweak and eq a bit more than I do with my Cubase plugs ( but then these are largely are plugs/virtuals that I have bought and not from within the standard Cubase set which aren't that great, put mildly ).
