FIrst ofall, make sure the axiom has power. Axiom MIDI OUT to MPC MIDI IN. check this!! Is your MIDI cable decent? Not some 20 year old 25 foot older borther hand me down shit..

Go to the midi settings of the MPC and make sure its reading the correct midi input. You dont need to "sync" anything, that implies timing. All you want to do is play the pads with your keyboard. - right? Make sure your Axiom is sending out on the correct channel (start with chan 1) make sure the MPC is listening to either channel 1 or "Omni" (all channels at once)

no need to hook MPC midi out back to the keyboard midi in, you're just gona get a midi looop and thats no good.

good luck, this is basic shit.

Why would you want to trigger pads/ samples from an Axiom 61 if you have an MPC1000 in front of you?

The answer lies with your Axiom 61 not the MPC. I have a barely used Axiom 49 which is pretty much the same.

You need to find out how to map those Axiom pads to specific note numbers.

I believe there is template software available for this purpose or you can do it manually.
