Tricky question.
For dj-ing you'll want decent power handling, and for monitoring a high freq. response and a transparent sound.
It's easy to wreck monitor headphones by playing too loud in a club environment.
I use a Sony MDR-v900 for dj-ing, but i think it's not that great for monitoring.
I would try a Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO.

I would not use headphones for mixing down music - they're alright for monitoring, but you cant judge mixes very well through headphones.

I use my Sennheiser HD-25's for everything.....

They're wicked (but I cr@p myself taking them out & leaving my bag anywhere)
