Whose got rid of their MPCs ... and what for ?

man I use everything.. computers, mpcs, mvs. electribes, shitty yamaha psrs, what ever is around.... records to me are like VST pluggins... just more stuff to sample from or make melodies with.... at the end of the day if I make a track on the 60, I gotta be at the computer anyways to record it and add more instrumentation or what ever the case may be.

Some people act like posting here on the forums is the only time they ever looked at a screen... yet those same people have myspaces and sound clouds full of their music. how did it get there?

The point here is a deeper one.If you cruise the forums you will notice that plugins are being used to simulate charactoristics of hardware ,down to the natural distortions commonly found on hardware going back as long as we can remember.Old guitar valve amps ect.Us that defend the ability of independant machines to do certain tasks well and uniquely are in the decline strangely enough.Using a plugin to add distortion charactor to your digital wave file is alien to me.I use everything as well but reserve the right to promote otb sequencers,samplers,fx and synths.I find it far more interesting.Im not alone.And i get a stiff neck and blurry vision looking at a puter screen for the whole production proccess.That being said computers are just as good to do most tasks.BTW-mr_debauch,i really like your track that you did for your battle with dabs.Got it on my i tunes.Best track on mpc forums this year.........

oh thanks, after doing that track I took some advice from the feedback which asked for it to get to the faster parts sooner... so I did that and tried it out on the crowd at a local illegal rave... not to bad at all!

yeah I see what you mean, and I agree... I use hardware, but that other dude made a pro hardware argument that was **** stupid... and looked like it was from someone who has no clue what is going on in the computer music world...

I am looking for a good distortion VST pluggin (not including guitar rig) because I havn't heard many I really like that much and for some reason I dont have many of those.

okay nice post... but it's retarded.

if your computer:
- crashes and freezes cause you dont know what you're doing
- over heats cause you dont know how to keep it clean, or properly cooled
- has latency cause your machine is either old, or not set up properly
- has no buttons cause you're too cheap to buy the proper gear for your computer
- is slow at navigating menus cause you dont know how to use a computer
- is cluttered with "widgets" lol cause you are disorganized or maybe you dont know how to turn off the stupid sidebar
- finds notepad to be a resource hog ... that is ridiculous
- is bloated by adobe programs (god forbid flash takes up that much hard drive space!)
- has a clock.. uh oh! your fantom has a clock too... all computers have a clock

that stuff is your own personal situation and is not what goes on with everyone else... some people have computers dedicated to music, and some people have computers made later then 2004.

sure, fantoms are great, they have good sounds... they are fun to use, less potential distractions if your computer is multi faceted, and maybe you spent years using it so you know it really well compared to other gear.... however it is still digital and is not more reliable then a properly set up dedicated DAW computer because both have electronic internal components and dont last forever.

analog gear such as moogs on the other hand..... can not be duplicated by digital simulation because it is hardware that makes the sound from start to finish.

Exactly. Hardware guys are always talking about latency, mice/ keyboard, etc... That stuff has been fixed twice over. You can get a fast computer for like 400.00 these days. Most people dont use the same computer for the internet and making tracks. Thats a big no-no and can give you a virus. Since they're so cheap, people have 2 computers! the only people who use strictly keyboard and mouse are newbies. Everyone else has midi keyboards, pad controllers, other hardware modules, turntables, mixers, large screens, etc. (its an investment) Just like yall max out the hardware, you "max" up your computer. I can make some loops in my MPC5000 just by hitting pads/turning knobs : fine !
I have a Maschine and VCM controller with which I can completely controll every function in Ableton without having to use a mouse ever.

The days of moaning about latency and 'working with a mouse' are over since controllers, decent laptops and good soundcards came on the market...meaning : more then 5 years ago.
