on the mp u chop assing to pads then compose the beat, on the maschin u can do the same quicker and u dont have to track out.
i had the mpc1k and the maschine replaced it and made me more productive and creative mostly with regard to using the sounds in my library that are on the PC.
ive used the sp505, korg-esx and the mpc1k and id say the learning curve is the same for all of em
but if ur attached to the mpc workflow the resistance towards the new device may create the impression of a steep learning curve because u already have a biase towards the mpc.
but defo see the maschine as a replacement for the mpc not a compliment as it can pretty much replicate all its major functions and provides a similar beat creation process.
but its all personal choice i like to work in one box so this is idea for me i also weant to use my sample libraries in a convenient manner to its a good look
I meant complement more in the sense it's awesome to have both.

You're absolutely right about the duplications of functions and general redundancy. I should have been more clear about the way I work personally. My logical side knows working in one or two boxes is best for productivity and ease of use reasons, but my fun side makes me wanna use everything I can get my hands on. I had a PC/MIDI controller DAW for years but then started collecting hardware. With Maschine and the MPC's I generally rock them side by side, and sometimes sample something from one into the other.
I had the opposite reaction to a lot of people here on first trying Maschine. It was so mentally similar with the buttons and functions to an MPC it clicked immediately. I think each box is the best in it's individual arena, one the best hardware solution the other the best software solution. But I see the point that for most people it would be one or the other.
