MPC2500 Fallin' Apart!!!

boogaloo, that is why i got so concerned about it, too many things had really gone wrong. that is why i posted this topic. some people here took it as i was some secret new member, trying to discredit the 2500 or somth. that really hurts my feelings. all i wanted is to find out if anyone has had similar issues with their MPC's. i guess not. i guess i wasn't lucky then getting the mp wit such problems. that's cool. i can live with that. i will replace the defunct parts and move on.

no no, people have had those types of problems before... okay the 2500 is not the common numark mpc to get the issues but now that that model is a bit older it will for sure become more talked about.

Some many people have already posted board issues with the 1000 already... also even people who know their stuff around here have had tact switch issues because they wore out quite fast compared to some of the older models.



as for the beat kang stuff, around here you never know... exactly what they though was happening here in this thread..... has actually happened before on several occasions.


Good luck, also... maybe you could call up the VST service and ask what they think the problem is and what it is likely to cost. You never know.

Sorry if your story is genuine, these past 2yrs has been crazy. Akai does suck I know. But what can I tell you? Just check out mpcstuff.com and vstservice.com and get the parts, even ebay.

btw, are you that AMG that did "Jiggable Pie"?

i had a similar issue with my pads on my old 2000, some didnt work, some triggered random samples... the issue was faulty RAM, replaced it and it worked... until i let a friend borrow it and i got it back looking like it was dropped off a cliff and spray painted black afterward...

and it still worked.

I had an MPC 2500 for about a year and i ran into a few problems with it. Never ran into any pad problems though.

Jog Wheel issues - 1st attempt to fix was to buy a brand new rotary encoder and solder it on the board, ended up not working and had to replace the whole board. ($65 - $70)

One of the main outputs went bad so I removed one of the 8 outputs and soldered it in place of the main output that went bad - that ended up working.

i bought my 2500 brand new, main outs went out after about 2yrs of light to moderate use...300 something dollars later at forat it went ebye.

$300!! jesus i hope he did more than just solder new inputs on the board. if i remember correctly the main outs is attached to one of the larger boards in the mpc and i think i remember it being around $150+ for just the board with the main outs on it.

he explained but that was few years back...I think couple capacitors needed to be replaced, and something was causing for one of them to go out forget
