Anyone have any comments on the PSR keyboards by Yamaha? A buddy has indefinitely lent me his old school PSR and I used it on few tracks. Upon checking out the new generation PSRs online I started wondering how useful it would be to buy one. I know it would sound lightyears better than the old one I've got.
I guess first impressions would lead people to believe it was sort of a corny, one-man band machine and wouldn't lend itself to hip hop but I think there's quite a bit of power in these things. I think it can be a way to also generate idea's outside the box as far as song writing/ beat making goes. You could run a style and mute out the drums and sync up a beat machine to it and presto, something unique and original. I know you can make your own styles as well. I also like the fact that it has speakers self contained in the unit. Plus it could play back midi files, MP3s (though i'm not sure about synching the style/autochord function with an MP3 within the unit) and have some really realistic sounds in there.
Right now I have a casio privia which is great for the fullsize piano keyboard, but I have an acoustic piano and I don't play the casio much lately, and it also is pretty huge.
