If done correctly, sure...I don't see why not. That said, I'd rather just save myself the headaches and spend $100 and a nice 48 pt bay.

Ah... I gotcha... What size rack are you going to put it in? a 19" or something like a 500 series module case?

i got old broken akai s3000xl (big money to repair), maybe i could do something like 1U rackmountcase of it. (i think 2U case will be too big)
But i dont really know about count of ports.. i will need to connect mpc 2500 (8 mono outputs) tascam 2488 (8 mono inputs), old soviet synth (1 mono out) and reel tape recorder (2 mono outs) this is 19 i\o's. so 20 port patchbay will enough, won't it?

Sure...you may want to think about leaving a few extra on there just in case your setup expands though. It would suck to get it done and then find a nice deal on some outboard gear...

I would have thought a mixer would be better for you than a patchbay.

You dont have that much gear...

But if not a 24 channel patchbay wont cost much on the bay.

Always leave extra or empty slots/ports on the patchbay so if you get more equipment later you can plug and play (or mix, as it were)...

Like it's better to buy more space than you need right now on a bay...


EDIT: What b.read said! lol


And you may want to consider using the stereo outs on the 2500 into the bay as well,
good for quick 2track mixdowns as well as the effects.

Well, a mixer.. because of little budget i can only get an extra-affordable soviet sh*t like this one

i can get it for about 15 bucks, but some guys say that sound quality really sucks (lot of background noise and something more), unless i change the transistors and most of technical stuff

Cool...if you can clean out the pots/ i/o etc it could sound pretty decent. :)
