Actually it wasnt ANY brand new floppy drive.

It was this drive:

does the drive read the disk at all when you press disk? if so it may be the floppy

When i Press disk I hear a sound coming from the drive but no LED goes on.
Used a few floppies and I get the same resaults.

does it have plastic jumpers at the back? if so check...

those are for S900 and not for S950.

hmmm thanks. I will change the jumper setting to what you sent me.

I now have changed these jumper settings:




to these jumper settings:



This time the drive "looks" like it works.

It cannot read my old akai s950 disk. It sais that they need to be formatted.
I format a blank HD disk and it shows that it formats it.
Then I try to save the TONE PGRM on the disk and it sais it needs to be formated.

I think that im closer to fixing it as ever.
If you have any ideas please let me know.
