Hello guys, I recently started studying and setting up a studio.
I'm just a ambitious college student trying to do something with my life.. please give me some constructive criticism.

I have read a lot about hardware and using my limited price range, I got(mostly used products through ebay):

-Akai MPC 1000 (optimus prime) ; this is my centerpiece of my studio.
-Windows 7 + Sonar + Audacity ; Sonar is mostly used to play alongside my mpc with my mixer and audacity is just for converting files before transferring them to my mpc. (a quick question.. is there a simple way to convert wav/mp3 files in sonar?)
-M Audio Radium 61 ; this one only has midi out but I really wanted to get a 61 key.. what am i missing with no midi in in my midi controller?
-Rane TTM 56.
-Yamaha HS80M 8" ; I just put soundboards around my bedroom and produce in the same room that I sleep in so i think 8" is a little too big for my room.. is there any 6" monitors with just as good quality as yamaha hs80m that I could possibly trade this for?
-Roland XV-5080 ; really wanted a motif rack but had to go with this cuz of budget.
-Sony MDR-7506 ; just wanted to put that and write a complete setup of my studio.

As you can see I don't use a turntable or cd .. mostly I purchase music online, convert them through audacity, transfer them to mpc and sonar and work from there..

Why do you think the 8's are too big for your room? Just turn them down a little. And there is a smaller version of them.

Your controller shouldn't need a MIDI "in". Your MPC can handle that duty.
