which effects board you would prefer?

i'm trying to save up for one since i just got my MPC1000. I see a lot of peeps with a korg kaos pad..does that serve as
effects? just curious....if you know, LMK.

the kp1, the kp2, the kp3, the mini kp, and the kp quad are fx units... the kaossilator, and kaossilator pro are synths.

the mini kp has I think 100 effects from the kp3... but lacks a lot of the features that make the kaoss pads great IMO.

I suggest getting the kp3 and if your budget doesn't permit that, then get the kp2. The effects are pretty good, and they are great for live use.

I wouldn't mind having a Kaoss Pad. Are you using a DAW with your Mpc 1000?

Not sure why you would want a Kaoss pad if you want quality studio fx unless you wanted to use it for live performance but I would look at the Lexicon LXP-15 mk2, Lexicon MPX-1, TC Electronics M-300, Korg AM-8000R, Roland SDE-330 (Delay), TC Electronics D2 (Delay), Ensoniq DP/4, Lexicon PCM-80

SP303/404/505... who needs outboards when you got samplers?

Nice beat by the way! I use a Lexicon LXP-15 mk2 and a Zoom 1202 which is surprisingly not bad, next up on my list is a MPX-1. The 15 mk2 is a bit noisy but the reverbs are really lush and full, also the short delays and room verbs are great esp on drums it can space things out just right without making anything muddy.

yeah i'd get the kp3 i was watching a dude messing with his kp3+mpc4000 and he played with the kp3 like there's some vinyl scratching effect...

i don't have an audio interface....but the softwares i have is ableton 8 and FL...although i need one to connect to cubase or cool edit 2

You might find that most of what you're trying to achive with outboard gear can be done in Ableton and FL....and once you start working in a DAW other creative opportunities start manifesting. Im not suggesting that outboard gear isn't good and if you have your heart set on a hardware effects unit then by all means go for it but if you take the time to get yourself familiar with a DAW and working with effects in a DAW you'll find that there's more potential in the DAW than the hardware. I think for you a better investment at this point would be the interface.....that's just me though.

I have a old Boss SE70, and it may be small, but it's got tons of effects which you can edit with the buttons and the one knob. You just sort of dive in the menu edit options and decide how wet/dry you want the chosen effect, and you can do flange, phase, ping-pong delays, pitch shifting(I love doing that to beats), ring modulation, plus the usual reverbs and chorus. If you ever find one, grab it!

i got a mini kaoss pad that it's not bad (very small and portable)
i would like to have a KP3 too (with has MIDI interface and it is a more powerful unit)
the new kaoss pad quad seems kool but it lacks of MIDI connectors (only real time use):

question... has anyone tried any of the other gear that include a kaoss pad? Like those mixers for example.

i have a lexicon mxp5 from the 80s. bought for $50. it sounds beautiful.

I'd recommend trying out different plugins bundled with DAWs or purchasable separately. You can only have so much hardware at any given time and that might pretty soon get restricting and affect your productivity.

If you're not aiming for high price point HW effects and/or don't really know what you want and what gear will give you that, then start with plugins! You wont regret that.
