No, that interface wont be used as a media converter man.

Yeah, You'd have to get like you said a converter box, coax to optical and the adapters, cables to go with the connectors on it you'd use.

ya, that interface was just a cheap solution, myself and a friend went halves on, just so we don't have to go into the mic IN of the computers onboard soundcard anymore..
It's def. improved the overall soundquality, claritywise. Also, it opens up some possibilities.

I do have the feeling that thing has this cheap modern sound texture to it, but: f*ck it!
It's an improvement and 20€ each was an allright deal.
And since we're only using it for tracking into audacity it doesn't effect the quality of my beat at all really, coz they're done, strictly on hardware.. (even if that hardware has software in it... but you get me :wink: )
It does effect the recordings in audacity obviously, but... oh well.

Update:

So I connected everything coorrectly: Fostex FD4 Digital out :arrow: converter box :arrow: MPC2500 Digital IN...
The MPC is receiving NO signal...
How can this be ?? I checked the settings on the FD4, did everything as advised in the manual.. No Signal in the MPC.. I don't get it..
Both is s/pdif. Are there any other diffrences (like subdivisions of s/pdif formats?) ??

All cables are new, so I doubt that any of them is faulty.
