This MPC Ren is a complete product. It isn't any more than "just a controller" than an MPC 1000, 2000XL, 3000, 4000, or 5000. Everyone keeps saying PC..PC..PC.
Do what you must to remove your PC from the scenario...use a longer USB cable to put your computer in another location or put a pillow case over your monitor. Now you have an MPC that looks more or less like previous models MPCs...but now you can have 4 GB of sample memory at your finger tips.
