just scoop a beat up juno... filter it up a bit and bam super bass...

also maybe you should scoop a s950 for the low end

micro korgs are good if you just wanna plug n play or what not... but for under $300 dont buy more gear your gonna be unhappy with...

just scoop some old moog synth records and filter them down in the MPC... its all preference id never go to the computer for sounds or something with preloaded digital sounds... but hey if your making beats do you...

An old sampler would be good.
It's simple to make a bass instrument on the S950; just get a sound, splice it on top of itself for a gain boost and do some filter shaping with the VCF. Ba da bing. Easy.
Plus, you'll have an S950 to utilise for other duties... all at under $300
