This is not a post for fan boys to rant over what is better. Please do not do so.

I have a MPC 1000 and was planning on getting the maschine mikro. At the moment I do not use any type of software along with my mpc. so that is why i am interested in the NI software hardware setup. I feel like the maschine mikro is less of a "mpc replacement" and more as a controller for some solid software. But i am concerned that the software will not be able to do everything i would like it to do.

Could i make half of a beat on my mpc and then import my work into the NI software? NI has told me that their software can import my programs from the mpc but they didnt say anything about my sequences. so basically what i am asking here is are all SEQ files the same?

Instead of proprietary .SEQ try saving your MPC sequences as .MID and import the universal .MID into your computer.

Well, if you use JJOS you can forget it. Maschine won't load programs created on or saved under JJOS. As for programs made on Akai OS, the parameters are different from Maschine so I doubt your samples will even sound the exact same or even have the same mute groups.
