I will assume you are referring to launching the clips in realtime instead of arranging them?
The key is in setting it up from your mentality.
You want to label your clips so they make fast sense at a glance to the song structure you are trying to achieve.
Also you have to create your clips with an overall perspective that they fit together to create
Once you have some aspect of that then your next thing is setting up which clips you want to loop and which ones you want to be like one shots.
The quantize of the clips is critical to being able to trigger them recklessly to your liking.
You want a setting that is tight enough to keep them in time but loose enough to be able to fire them whenever you like.
The knobs, sliders and crossfader on the APC40 come in really handy for dealing with getting your ideas out.
The power of MIDI learn mode is gonna become your friend as it allows you to quickly assign things within LIVE to an external controller.
Even setting things up to respond to the pads on the 1k can give you major workflow boost.
Also something I find useful is to have a safety clip within every song.
It's a clip with a manipulative break of some sort that you use like a drop or build up .
It's what I trigger when I need to gather my point of view or reposition myself.
It has to be short but something you can freak in realtime
