Vestax PMC-06 Pro...?

Mine was a Pro A purchased used off Ebay in 2000. It was made in Japan.

Well mine's a Pro A "Made in China", but never had any issues for 10 years now.

Weird.
If you ever get a chance hop on a new one, and you'll feel the difference guaranteed.

I've racked my brain and seem to remember the 'pro a' replacing the 'pro' in around 99 at a slightly lower price point. I'm thinking that the production of the pro a was switched from Japan to China shortly after and the price was dropped again.

Chuck, it sounds like yours is probably quite a rare example.

Makes me wish I had kept it, but I got rid of it when I switched to a Rane TTM-56

an old tread, but i still hope to get an unswer .

My crappy Gemini FX-7000 is falling apart after just a couple of years of use:
bleeding cross fader, crackling faders and pots, broken output 1/4 inch and
busted headphone output --- its a nightmare

Now i am in the market for a 2nd hand scratch mixer
and have few questions:

I see lots of used Vestax PMC Pro's on eBay ... but they are all different
models , years ... some of them are made in Japan , some in China..

for example someone is selling Vestax PMC 07 Pro made in Japan for 445 euros ,
is this a fair price.. or there is anothe dude who sells Vestax PMC 07 Pro with bad cross fader for 200 euros ... or used PMC 05 III VCA for 150 euros witch one i should go for ?

what are the other 2nd hand alternatives with better options EQ's , sound.. Ecler NUO 2.0 ... or ?

I just started getting into scratching about 4-5 months ago and it's not easy at all. I was mainly a mix/blend DJ starting out, then got into production. I also could do basic beat juggling and baby type scratches. But getting into actual turntablism, the main thing that was throwing my coordination off at first was the crossfader click. I bought a PMC-05 Pro II and a PDX 2000. Hearing that clicking sound from the fader over the music threw me off really bad for some reason and I was having a really hard time getting the rhythm right.

So what I looked into was the cut lag spacers Vestax makes, but the only problem I had was the fader in my mixer wasn't compatible with the spacers. So I bought the CF-PVC fader and a pack of lag spacers and my cuts improved A LOT! Of course some people cut up credit cards and other shit to shove in the fader to get rid of the clicking, but I didn't wanna deal with all that.

Anyway, the PMC-05 is perfect for scratching. Got mine for $150. I don't really need all the extras that the newer ones have. So maybe you wanna keep that in mind when deciding what to spend. Only thing I would spend extra for is one with a 3 band EQ. Either way, can't go wrong at all with Vestax. And considering how easy parts are to get for them, I would go that route.

As a PMC user I convinced a friend to get one.
Shortly after that he got a deal on a TT and swore it was a better table.

I told him I was a PMC user so I tend to stay away from other mixers because it's what I am use to.

My PMC is one of the old original ones so maybe it had something to do with his being on of the newer ones?

I have the pmc 06 VCA which is in good shape... it doesn't seem to bad. I haven't had the time to really run it through hoops yet... been too busy to mess about with all that... but it seems pretty good. It has the basics, it doesn't have un-necessary stuff... it's controls are spaced out ... but the whole thing is pretty small.

I never compared it to any of the other PMC06 models or iterations though.. mine seems to be made in china.

Also, I was not too sure on the differences the VCA version has over the non VCA versions... I downloaded the manuals for all of them and I think the older versions has a different way to adjust the curve for the two volume faders... mine has a 3 way switch for those.

i agree with DJ Plan A
i got the pmc-05pro d (samurai, with only hi and lo eq knobs, no mid knobs) that got the crackling issue on the vertical faders, but when the fader is up there is no noise at all, so the 05 is good for sampling.
but the digital crossfader is working perfectly after 8 years of scratching practice
