u can midi them up or just resample. i run my turntable through the sp and then the sp outs into the mpc. that way i can add effects to my samples on the fly.

that machines got pretty much everything u need, effects wise. and its fun to loop sh*t up in it.

No doubt any of the Roland/Boss SP can offer nice processing on a cheap but will also add some other useable features and tricks.
Only thing is there is a distinct sound in the reverb and delay that may not be to someone's liking.
I guess that's true of all units but it seems to stand out in the SP series.

wow thanks for all the advise so far im leaning twords the dp4.. I was going to get a mpc1000 on ebay the blue one for 400 bucks but luckily i lost the auction. so i found a black mpc at the local guitar center for 499 and i think ill go with that one. I figure that if i have that hooked up with my laptop along with the yamaha an1x and then the dp4 that would be a good start. then all i will need is a midi hookup for my laptop and then I have to figure out if I should get reason or some other software to use along with the mpc. anyone got any ideas on good software?

You could try the LIne 6 M9 - delays, mods, distortions, compressions, eqs, filters and reverbs plus tap tempo to sync and 28 sec looper and midi in/out. $399 new sure you can get it on the used market for way under that.

I'd rather have 2 DP2's than a DP4, just a more reliable unit all the way around.
Just remember the yellow screen DP2 and green screen DP2 have different reliability as well.

If you do go for a DP4 then try to get it from a dealer or somewhere that takes returns just in case you get noisy outputs or all the outs don't work.

Then again you could always grab a ASR and get double duty from it.

Details? First I've heard that.
